A series of mostly postcard-sized watercolor illustrations inspired by some of the games I played in 2023
Mostly watercolored, some also use some inked linework
Miscelaneous practices, some from observation, some clearly not, as I got the hang of watercolor again
Meowser's Showdown at the end of Mario 3D World
Piece inspired both by the silhoutte levels and the minecart levels in Donkey Kong Country Returns (yeah I know, I should've pushed the silhouette part more, live and learn)
Karby heading to the Forgotten Lands
It's impressive how this galaxy's theme song became the defacto Mario Galaxy music
Went a little too ambitious with my Wooded Kingdom piece, didn't quite have the skills to translate what was in my head
My most memorable (and controller breaking) moment of Sunshine
I loved how ominous yet beautiful the liberation of the Parasites X was in Dread
Another one that I didn't quite have the skills to pull off what I had in my mind, but still a fun vibrant work
The remakes of this game did not exist.
Trying to play with the pastel colors of the dawning sun in Tears of the Kingdom. The setting was gorgeous when I uncovered that last memory
Gave Pikmin 4 a second try with this piece. Like it much better than the first one, but still ways to go. I enjoy how the lack of linework in the more distant parts help add a "out of focus" feel to them which is a big part of the game's aesthetic
